Should I get a carrier bag for my pet?

What is a carrier?

A carrier is either a bag or a cage that you use as temporary to transport your pets around. Usually for a vet visit.

Why need a carrier?

Depending on your pets, some pet’s cage are too big to be used to transport the pet around. So a carrier is usually used for transportation. Carrier are usually around the size of the pet so that there’s limited movement and keep the pet secure and stable during the transportation especially when during seeking medical treatment.

Type of carrier available and suitable usage?

There’s a few type of carriers available in today’s market due to heavily commercialize in Pet’s accessories. Here, we will talk about 4 of the commonly found carrier.

1.       Carrier bag

This are more flexible and usually collapsible for easy storage, since carrier bag are not usually use on daily basis. This is usually good as it do not look like a cage and you can easily have this over your shoulder and take a public transport without much hassle.
Note: Do have additional backing / towel in the bag for better cushion and support.

2.       Carrier Crate

This are usually made of plastic with steel handle or opening. Some can be dismantle for easy storage or to handle your pet. Since this is solid carrier, you wont have concern that you may crash your pet compared to a carrier bag. You can also have some water bottle in the crate and use as a holding cage at the Vet if your pet need to be monitored. But it would be bunk and attract attention in public areas where pets are not allowed. Your pets can also get anxiety due to stranger and environment since they are able to look out from the crate easier than a carrier bag.

3.       Carrier box

These carriers can be made of plastic or carton paper. They are much smaller in size so usually for smaller pets and most of the time for short trips without much stretch out leg space for your pets. Usually use to fetch/transport pets from pet stores or to boarding house.
